Music is more than content

Music is more than endless playlists or background noise. It deserves to be discovered, valued, and understood on its own terms. The platforms we rely on are pushing in the opposite direction. They are increasingly incentivized to promote AI-generated tracks and releases produced for mass appeal because they are cheaper to license. The result is an ecosystem where artistry takes a back seat to efficiency.

Genres matter

At the same time, genres — the way we’ve historically understood and connected music — are being deprecated. Instead of genres that define communities and have histories, streaming services are flattening music into “vibes.” Genres are not outdated categories; they are the threads that connect artists to each other and to the listeners who care.
